The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has re-echoed the need for partnership between faith-based organisations and government to transform the lives of Ghanaians.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia made the observation at the Biennial Joint Conference of the    East, West and Mid Ghana Conferences at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region on June 19.

He spoke about partnership with faith-based organisations to improve the economy and the lives of Ghanaians.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia recounted the economic challenges the country is currently facing.

“We declare our efforts even as the AME Zion church and its members and the president his Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo and I to bring transformation to the lives of our people and communities,” he said.

The Presiding Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion, Rev. Dr Hilliard Dela Dogbe called on government to roll out policies to transform the economy.

We therefore challenge our government and leadership to provide selfless leadership and good governance and strategic policies to reverse the trend, yes indeed it is possible.”

“Your Excellency yes, we all have a role to play but government authorities and policy makers have a critical role to play as managers to steer the situation and reverse the decline,” he said.

Rev Dogbe also called for decency among political players during their campaigns.

“Our campaigns and engagements based on parochial interest, negative propaganda denigrating each other to win power is unhealthy.”

“I further wish to admonish all of us the electorates to exercise decorum in our engagement, our political party differences, ethnic differences and religious differences should not divide us but rather initiate our unity in diversity,” he advised.

The Biennial Joint Conference of the AME Zion was on the theme, “The Freedom Church-A Movement Empowered by the Holy Spirit Securing Our Future”.
