Atlantic Lithium supports four schools in Mfantsiman, AAK

Atlantic Lithium Mining Company have made a cheque donation to the Mfantsiman Municipal Assembly and the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District Assembly as part of efforts to support some schools that have had their building ripped off as a result of heavy rains.

Part of the money is also meant to be used for renovation works on some schools in the two districts.

The Mfantsiman Municipal Assembly received an amount of two hundred and seventy-five thousand five hundred and ninety-six cedis while the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District Assembly also received twenty-eight thousand four hundred and forty cedis as part of the support package.

Speaking to Citi News after presenting the cheque to the various assemblies, the Community Relations and Social Performance Manager of Atlantic Lithium Dr. Millicent Aning Agyie noted that the donation is part of giving back to the society where they operate.

According to her, the company is ready to support the communities where it operates adding that the move is meant to foster greater collaboration between the company and residents.

“On June 2, 2024 communities within the Mfantsiman and Abura Asebu Kwamankese District Assembly witnessed heavy rains leading to some schools having their roofs ripped off. As an organization working in the enclave, we thought it wise to come in and support and so we collaborated with the two assemblies, the education service directorate to change the narrative.

“Currently, we are in the rainy season and it is important that we come to their aid and bring activities to normalcy. This is part of giving back to society and we are ready to do more “Community Relations and Social Performance Manager told Channel One News.

We are committing financial support of over three hundred thousand cedis to support three schools in Mfantsiman, namely Barfikrom Basic School, Krofu Methodist Basic School and T.I Ahmadiyya School in Salt Pond. But for Abura Asebu Kwamankese we are supporting only one school and that is Afrangua Basic School” Dr Millicent Aning Agyie said.

Municipal Chief Executive for Mfantsiman Ike Lord Ennu expressed his excitement about the gesture adding that this support will ease the burden on the Mfantsiman Municipal Assembly.

“Mining of Lithium in the enclave is a process and the company is committed to go through the process to acquire their mining licence. But I must say that the presence in this community has been beneficial and we hope going forward we will build better collaboration with them. I am optimistic that their activities in the community will benefit us in terms of expanding our local economy” Municipal Chief Executive Ike Lord Ennu noted.
